The speckles in the oatmeal base are not from the glaze but from the clay body. The clay has tiny particles that bleed through and stain the glaze. As you would expect, this doesn't work well with many glazes. After many test tiles, I discovered a few glazes that "play well" with the clay. This is one of them.
